Braidburn Visit

Today Braidburn came to our school. Braidburn is a school where children with disabilites go. Some of the children came to help us plant snowdrops and iris bulbs. We met some of the childeren, their names were Stewart, Shaun, John, Neil, Catherine, Stephanie and Mirrin. After that they came into our class room. Stewart was very chatty and we saw some pictures of when they came to see the garden last time. My mum works in Braidburn she is called Sharon. We had a good time.

This week in school people from explore learning came in and taught us maths . First we played a warm up game called 'Stand up sit down'. There were two teams, they were the Geckos and the Chameleons. Then we did a group activity about going to the theme park. At the end we played another game where six people from each team had a number and they had to put them biggest to smallest and you won by getting the fastest time and one of our teams got the second fastest time in Edinburgh.

Womans suffrage !!!!!!!!!!!!

On Wednesday 9th September 2009 we went to the Museum of Edinburgh to see the exhibition about woman's suffrage and to see how they used to live.Mrs Baker did a drama workshop with us. We, the girls, had to act like a wife to a wealthy man and the boys had to be that wealthy man. Some of us were embarrassed, we didn't want to act in front of everyone. Then after that we looked at the exhibition. It was very interesting because some of them ran in front of the kings carriage to get attention. Some women went on hunger strikes and then they got force fed. We are going to enter a competition all about the Votes for Women March in Edinburgh in 1909. We could win £100!!!

Beechgrove garden is here

Beechgrove garden is here woo hoo! It has been very exciting this week. Our garden, the Room to Grow, was just an old dump 1 year ago and now it has been transformed into a lovely, warm and happy place to be. Mrs Sharpe organised builders, mums and dads to help so I want to say thank you to everyone - and especially Mrs Sharpe.
You can see our new garden on BBC2 on Wednesday 9th of September 2009.

Jessica , Sujina and Rebecca talked about how to have a "Burns Night Supper" clothes and food. Then Gemma said a poem called "Address tae the Haggis". For the finale we all sang "Auld Lang Syne".

The rest of the school did poems, song and stories.
